This year, our donation will once again go to ‘Doctors of the World’ for a ‘forgotten country’, Yemen. They have been working there since 2007. The focus is on basic healthcare for the population, with a particular emphasis on women’s health and mental health. There are currently around 4.5 million internally displaced people in the country, 80% of whom are women. Doctors of the World reaches around 640,000 people there with its services.
For example, they have handed back a now functioning hospital near Sanaa to the state structures. Four years ago, there was almost nothing there. They have set up departments, trained and employed medical specialists so that patients can now be treated again.
